Pearl Harbor destroyer deploys to Western Pacific, Middle East

The Pearl Harbor-based guided-missile destroyer USS Russell leaves today for an independent deployment to the Western Pacific and Middle East, the Navy announced.

The Russell last completed a western Pacific deployment in August 2010.

An Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, the Russell was commissioned in 1995 and has about 33 officers and 248 enlisted crewmen.
