SAN DIEGO >> A survivor of Pearl Harbor who was found living in squalid conditions in San Diego County has been moved to a nursing home.
His daughter tells the San Diego Union-Tribune that 93-year-old Arnold Bauer recently moved to a home in the San Diego area. Stephanie Le Chevalier says her father is doing well even though he has dementia and prostate cancer.
Last month, Bauer was found disoriented and dehydrated inside his El Cajon house. Sheriff’s deputies say the home was full of rotting trash and rat droppings and Bauer was clutching a photo of his ship, the USS Vestal.
Bauer’s caregiver, Milagros Angeles, has pleaded not guilty to elder abuse, theft and false imprisonment.
