Police arrested a 40-year-old Halawa Correctional Facility inmate Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and attempting to sexually assault a 61-year-old female correctional worker at the prison last week.
Department of Public Safety official confirmed a police report that the inmate held the woman against her will and attempted to assault her at 1:15 p.m. Aug. 1 at the Halawa prison.
The woman told police the man choked her, held her against her will and tried to sexually assault her.
The inmate was arrested at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the prison on suspicion of kidnapping, second-degree assault and first-degree attempted sexual assault.
There was no immediate information on the suspect’s dentention record.
