Police have dispatched a bomb squad tonight to investigate a suspicious letter found at the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus.

Campus Security called police about 8:50 p.m. to report the item. Police called firefighters, and firefighters requested the Police Department’s Specialized Services Division to confirm the item is not a danger, police said.

If not, the Fire Department’s hazardous materials unit will go in and perform biological and chemical tests on the letter, said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig. If there is nothing wrong with the letter, it will be returned to Campus Security.

Seelig said Campus Security reported the letter was found in Hamilton Library and was brought outside.
