Two shoplifting suspects used what police called a “dangerous weapon” to get away after a man tried to stop them Saturday, police said.

Police said a 32-year-old man and a 20-year-old man were seen shoplifting at a Honolulu store around 10:40 a.m. and threatened a 37-year-old man with a dangerous weapon when he tried to detain them.

Police, however, were able to catch the suspects about an hour later on suspicion of first-degree

robbery.

The suspects posted $1,000 bail on a fourth-degree theft charge and were released at about  11 p.m., according to police records.
