Republican gubernatorial candidate John Carroll is complaining that he’s being ignored.

The Honolulu lawyer is considered a decided underdog to Lt. Gov. James "Duke" Aiona in the race for the GOP nomination.

Carroll says he’s not been invited to the same forums and debates as have Aiona and the two most well-known candidates for the Democratic nomination, former U.S. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and former Honolulu Mayor Mufi Hannemann.

Carroll says it is seems "fundamentally unfair" to use campaign contributions as the sole criteria for a candidate’s viability.

He had about $6,200 in his campaign treasury at the end of June, compared to Aiona’s $719,000.
