A 35-year-old woman visiting from South Korea was rescued Monday morning while snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, the city Ocean Safety Division said.

Lifeguards were notified about 9:50 a.m. that a woman was floating motionless just outside the reef in the middle of the bay, a city Ocean Safety official said.

Lifeguards found the woman, brought her to shore and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Emergency medical personnel took the woman to Straub Clinic & Hospital, where she remained yesterday.

She was visiting Hanauma Bay with her husband.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said the woman had died.
