A Honolulu Fire Department rescue crew escorted a local family of four off a trail behind Koolau Golf Course in Kaneohe at about 11:20 p.m. Sunday after they got in trouble during a hike.
They called for help at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The fire department helicopter located the family — a father, mother and two young children. Thick brush prevented the helicopter from lowering firefighters directly to the family. Rescue personnel hiked to the family’s location and reached them at about 10:20 p.m.
The family did not need medical help.
