    A magnitude-6.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Japan at 7:06 a.m. Thursday.

A strong earthquake 8 miles off the coast of the Kyushu region of Japan this morning does not pose a tsunami threat to Hawaii.

The 6.3 magnitude temblor struck at 7:06 a.m. Hawaii time, 8 miles north of Kunasaki-shi at a depth of 51.5 miles.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage in the area.
