An alert Honolulu police officer nabbed a suspected car thief during a routine check of a Kaneohe parking lot this afternoon.

According to police, the officer noticed an unattended vehicle that had been reported stolen on Friday. The officer then went to a nearby business and viewed surveillance video that showed the suspect driving the vehicle.

The officer recognized the suspect — a 43-year-old woman — from a previous arrest and was able to locate her in the area.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.
