Honolulu police released a security camera image of a suspect in a cell phone theft from a shopping cart at the Waianae Store on Jan. 8.

Honolulu police released security camera video of two suspects taking an item from a shopping cart last month and then took the video off their website.

Police are asking for the public’s help in catching the suspects.

On Jan. 8 at about 7:16 p.m., police said the suspects entered the Waianae Store and removed and concealed a cell phone from a shopping cart.

Security camera video posted on the honolulupd.org website showed a man and woman reaching into a shopping cart in the checkout area, taking an item and the woman putting it in her pocket.

This afternoon, however, police took the video and security camera images off their website.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call police at 529-3911 or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or *CRIME on a cellular phone.

Whenever I find a unattended smartphone at a bus stop or on the bus, I give it to the bus driver. The owner can then claim it at the lost and found department. Or I could surrender it to the carrier such as ATT. or Verizon.

I thought that a smartphone can be tracked by its IP address or the IMEI/MEID. number?

Aren’t smart phones useless without the PIN or fingerprint ID? My Note 5 got it. Maybe yours does, too. Ask your phone company. Can enter either with fingerprint with 4 tries and then you’ll need to use your PIN. Did you know that?
