Video surveillance recently helped police solve a Waipahu vehicle break-in that happened last month and a Waikele vehicle break-in from February, Honolulu police said.

A 19-year-old man was arrested Friday morning in connection with the Waipahu crime, according to police records. He was charged with first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle around 2:20 p.m. Saturday. Police said the man was caught on a home surveillance camera breaking into a 59-year-old man’s car around 11:30 a.m. on April 20 and stealing property from the car. 

The suspect posted $20,000 bail, according to police records.

Police solved the Waikele incident Thursday evening after the 35-year-old suspect was seen operating a stolen moped on a Pearl City bike path, according to police records. 

Video surveillance captured footage of the man breaking into a 40-year-old woman’s car just after 4 p.m. on Feb. 24 and taking items from inside, police said. The man, who has no local address, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle around 5:35 p.m. Thursday on the bike path east of Lehua Avenue. 

He was charged with the crime Friday around 9:05 p.m. and posted $50,000 bail, according to police records.
