Several tires of a Delta Airlines plane blew out Wednesday afternoon as the aircraft was trying to take off from Honolulu Airport, the state Department of Transportation said.

There were no injuries reported and more than 200 passengers were returned to the terminal via shuttle bus, DOT spokeswoman Caroline Sluyter said.

The plane, which was headed for Los Angeles, stopped on the runway when the tires blew out about 12:40 p.m., Sluyter said.

She said passengers were expected to be accommodated on a later Delta flight.
