A typhoon making landfall in Taiwan has delayed the departure of Hawaiian Airlines Flight 808, scheduled for 8:55 p.m. Friday (Taipei time).

Typhoon Soulik has sustained winds of 120 mph and is a category 3 storm.

The flight is now scheduled to depart at 9 a.m. on Saturday and will arrive in Honolulu at 1:15 a.m. on the same morning after crossing the International Dateline.

The delay will not affect the departure of Hawaiian Flight 807 to Taipei, which will leave as scheduled at 1:55 a.m. on Sunday.

Passengers are advised to check Hawaiian Airlines’ website for further updates.

Hawaiian Airlines began service to Taipei Tuesday morning.

Gov. Neil Abercrombie, who left on the inaugural flight, was scheduled to return on Friday, but changed his flight and came back to Hawaii today because of the typhoon, a spokeswoman said.
