UH schedules public meetings to discuss proposed tuition hikes

The University of Hawaii has scheduled a series of statewide public meetings to present its proposals for raising tuition over three years, starting with the 2017-18 academic year.
UH officials say the proposed increases, up to 2 percent annually, are intended to fund deferred maintenance at UH-Manoa and the UH community colleges and establish a reserve fund for UH-West Oahu and UH-Hilo.
The meetings, set for March 28 to May 5, “will explain the rationale for the tuition proposal and what the increases will be used for and are intended to solicit feedback from students, faculty, staff and the general public,” a UH news release said today.
The UH Board of Regents will receive a final recommendation on tuition increases in June.
The public is invited to submit written or oral testimony at the public meetings, or via email at tuition@hawaii.edu. The meeting schedule is:

Make the state pay for deferred maintenance and we students will pay our fair share for direct instruction. (I am nearly done soon anyway :))
UH should simply not be allowed to raise tuition until it offers the classes students need to get out in 4 years.
UH is sinking under the weight of far too many 6 figure salary administrators and not using the money to pay for instructors. There are far too many students waiting literally years for classes to become available so they can graduate. This is completely unacceptable.
No tuition raises until more classes needed to boost graduation rates are offered.

Waste time, just do it.
Make the students pay for it. P4P should be the rule.
Seems grossly unfair to charge students more when UH can’t even offer the classes they need to graduate regularly despite a massive growth in 6 figure pay administrators who aren’t helping students get out in 4 years.
Too many campus locations, each loaded with a crazy amount of high paid administrators that don’t teach a single class. The system really needs an overhaul of this top heavy administration. Unsustainable.
