Honolulu police and firefighters are on the scene of a vehicle fire that closed the left lanes of Moanalua Road this afternoon.

All eastbound lanes of the Moanalua freeway were reopened around 4 p.m. today after an accident and vehicle fire closed multiple lanes.

At about 3:30 this afternoon, only one eastbound lane was open to traffic, according to Danielle Tucker.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area.

Firefighters extinguished the fire by about 3:45 p.m. and the burned vehicle was towed away.

Traffic between the Aiea and Red Hill exit slowed while police, firefighters and a tow truck were on the scene.
