Condolences to Family and Friends of Mr. Komatsu. I hope there were witnesses provide details on what happened. I’m familiar with the area and it appears like the truck was making a left turn from Kahoaloha Lane onto King Street. It is a bad place to make a left turn. There is somewhat of a blind spot if you looking left to turn left from Kahoaloha and you got traffic coming fast around the bend westbound (traffic coming off freeway. In my opinion, it would have been better to simply turn around on Kahoaloha then get to University and then go either left or right on King to get where you’re going. It appears like the motorcycle / moped had right of way and T-boned the truck making left turn…just my assessment…witnesses will be able to provide details…regardless a sad and tragic event.

My sympathies are with the family of the Kailua woman but it just defies belief that someone in 2016 would get in a vehicle and not buckle the seat belt.
