Voggy, muggy weather is likely to move over the islands on Friday and windward areas can expect wet trade wind weather with possible isolated heavy showers for the next couple of days.

Forecasters say a weather system that’s been lingering over the islands should bring more rain to windward areas tonight and Thursday.

Honolulu and leeward areas should have "relatively nice weather," said Ian Morrison, a forecaster with the National Weather Service. But keep the umbrellas handy. The forecast for Honolulu still calls for a 50 percent chance of rain through Friday.

The chance of rain lessens on Friday, but winds will shift and become southerly later in the day, bringing vog and humid Kona weather through Saturday.

Forecasters expect the trade winds to return on Sunday.
