Winning streak ends for UH women’s basketball team

The Hawaii women’s basketball team was unable to keep its winning streak going, falling 71-61 against Pacific today in Stockton, Calif.

UH (7-9, 3-2 Big West) had its three-game streak snapped against heavy pressure. The Wahine committed 21 of their 27 turnovers in the first half, but still only trailed by eight at halftime.

Kamilah Martin and Shawna Kuehu led UH with 18 points apiece. Kuehu tied her career-high.

The Wahine drew within five points early in the second half, then fell behind by double digits. They cut it to 65-59 on Monica DeAngelis’ 3-pointer with just over a minute left.

Kuehu missed from underneath the basket and UH had to go to fouling. Her final basket made it 67-61 with 45 seconds left, but the Wahine would not score again.

Pacific improved to 13-3 and 3-1 in the Big West.
