Authorities have charged a 27-year-old Ewa Beach woman with second-degree assault, and not attempted murder after she allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife during an argument Monday night.

Crystal Velasquez was scheduled to make her initial appearance in District Court this morning on two charges of second-degree assault. Her bail was set $100,000.

Police initially arrested her for attempted murder.

Police said the victim, 32, managed to fend off the attack and call police at about 9:40 p.m. He was taken to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Officers arrested Velasquez at a Laulauna street address about 10:39 p.m.
