The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 82-year-old California visitor who died after swimming at Hanauma Bay as Betti McGowne.

Cause of death is pending further tests. She was from Lakeside, Calif.

Lifeguards rescued the woman March 12 about 40 yards offshore at Hanauma Bay and administered CPR. Paramedics responding to the scene took over treatment and transported the woman in critical condition to the hospital, where she later died, authorities said.
