Honolulu firefighters retrieved the decomposing body of a woman from Lake Wilson today.
The woman’s body apparently had been in the water for several days and may have been the subject of a swimmer in distress call on Thursday, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. James Todd.
Todd said firefighters were called to Wahiawa Freshwater State Park about 9:30 a.m. Saturday after someone spotted the body floating in the water.
A fire rescue company retrieved the body, which was unrecognizable, and turned it over to police and the Honolulu Medical Examiner’s office.
Three days earlier, at about 5:35 p.m. Thursday, firefighters received conflicting reports about a female swimmer in distress and someone yelling at the lake.
Firefighters searched underwater, but could not see anything because of the poor visibility. After unsuccessfully locating anyone in distress and no one reporting anyone missing in the area, firefighters ended the search two hours later.
RIP whoever she is.

Yes, because a reasoned person wants to know how someone could go missing for three days without anyone noticing.

that could happen to people with homes as well. a person died. it’s unfortunate. allie didn’t need to bring quality of life into it without knowing any details.
It might give us a clue as to what happened.
Hmmmm?, three days earlier, firefighters received conflicting reports of swimmer in trouble and yelling, from whom??? Trace that call would be a beginning. Maybe the caller was the culprit??, or person of interest??
or, was that dead female already dead and somebody is trying to collect on insurance??
autopsy should reveal if it was due to drowning or whatevers.
Lake Wilson, at a distance, is a horrible looking lake. Muddy along the perimeter, ugly trees, and filthy looking muddy water. Why would anybody go near the water? Oh, and doesn’t a wastewater treatment plant discharge its effluent into the lake?
Is Lake Wilson water used for drinking as well as irrigation? Had a sale at Long’s last week. $2.00 for a gallon. Bought 10. Then came the news that Hawaii may have a problem with acidic water leaching the lead out of pipes. Shoulda bought 20.
The people working at the sewage plant assure me that the treated sewage water being pumped into the lake… is cleaner than the water already in the lake. LOL. Now doesn’t that make you feel better.?
According to the HFN… Lake Wilson is a world class sport fishing destination. Hawaii is the only place in the US, other than South Florida, where you can catch Peacock Bass. There are also Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, and a variety of exotic species of fish. I’ve heard professional bass anglers rate Lake Wilson as just as good , if not better fishing, than many famous mainland lakes. Hawaii’s “Bass” Kept Secret.
