A work furlough inmate missing since July 26 turned himself in Wednesday morning.

Eric Pixley voluntarily turned himself in at Oahu Commuity Correctional Facility at about 9:15 a.m., and will be booked on an additional escape charge, the Department of Public Safety said.

Pixley was reported missing at a 1:30 a.m. headcount on Saturday, July 26. DPS said it is investigating how he left the Laumaka Work Furlough Center.

Laumaka is a minimum security work furlough center, about a block away from OCCC.  Inmates assigned to Laumaka are either actively seeking employment or working in the community and have less than 2 years left on their sentence.

Pixley was serving time for a probation violation.
