KHON announced that the debut of their 9 p.m. weekday newscast in September will see Marisa Yamane, right, and Howard Dashefsky on the anchor desk.

KHON-TV weekend anchor Marisa Yamane will join longtime broadcaster Howard Dashefsky as the station debuts a 9 p.m. weekday newscast Sept. 8, according to the station.

Yamane and Dashefsky also will co-anchor the 5 p.m. weekday newscast, while current anchor Kathy Muneno moves to weekends, and Justin Cruz will maintain his weeknight weather anchor duties.

Additionally, KHON has announced that recent University of Hawaii broadcast meteorology graduate Kelly Simek will join the station as Wake Up 2day weather anchor, succeeding Kanoe Gibson who left the show several months ago for family reasons.
