Residential home sales on both Hawaii island and Kauai fell over the previous year in March, though median prices for the most part continued to make gains, according to a new report released Thursday by the Hawaii Information Service.
Hawaii island condominium sales plunged the most, with a 35 percent drop to 51 last month from 79 in the year-earlier period.
The island’s single-family home sales fell 5 percent to 158 from 167.
Similarly, Kauai’s condo sales dropped 25 percent to 18 from 24, while home sales declined 11 percent to 31 from 35.
The median sales price for condominiums on Hawaii island jumped 55 percent to $310,000 from $200,000.
However, median prices for single-family homes fell nearly 8 percent to $217,500 from $236,000.
The Garden Island’s median sales price for condominiums soared 57 percent to $295,000 from $187,450, and 19 percent for homes to $528,000 from $442,500.
