State tourism officials aim to lure 8.41 million travelers to the islands next year an increase of 1.9 percent over the record 8.25 arrivals expected to be achieved this year. Likewise, officials have set a 2015 goal of achieving $15.11 billion in visitor spending, which is 2.8 percent above the record $14.69 billion in spending achieved in 2014. While the new targets indicate officials expect the four-year record run up to continue, growth is plateauing. These are tourists on the beach in front of the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.
