A new $200 million cargo ship serving Hawaii was unloaded at Honolulu Harbor on Wednesday following its maiden voyage from San Diego.

The 692-foot MV Marjorie C is the second ship operated by Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines, which is slated to become bigger in a pending acquisition of the Hawaii operations of Horizon Lines that includes four ships.

Pasha’s new ship will bring about 5 to 10 percent more capacity to the Hawaii-West Coast shipping market that is the state’s cargo lifeline.

The Marjorie C, which was built by VT Halter Marine in Mississippi with a vehicle ramp, onboard cranes and 10 cargo decks, is capable of carrying 1,100 vehicles and the equivalent of 1,400 20-foot containers.

Pasha entered the Hawaii market in 2005 with the 579-foot MV Jean Anne.
