POSTED:

A WHITE CHRISTMAS PARTY 1. Island businessman John Michael White, center, shared the joy of the season with several hundred friends — including Ginai, left, "Surfer Joe" Teipel, Qi Marie and Maile Moran — at an early evening Christmas Eve party at his penthouse residence in downtown Honolulu. White's guests enjoyed an international buffet of traditional Christmas dishes and island favorites, background music by pianist Aaron Aranita and several rounds of Christmas carols. White led the crowd on "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" and "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and then Ginai stepped forward for a solo rendition of "Ave Maria."
2. David Harada and Phoebe Kim dressed for the event in ever-fashionable black-and-white.
3. Hawaii recording artist Chiyo Flynn talked with record producer Pierre Grill, left, and celebrity photographer Kim Taylor Reece. Grill, born and raised in France, put a new spin on the phrase "Pardon my French" when he explained that many Parisians look down at French speakers from other parts of the country, and since he grew up in Marseilles he speaks with what they consider an inferior "southern" accent. Reece's business interests include a line of KTR aloha wear, and so he got some good-natured kidding for wearing a shirt by another company.
4. Lyra Johnson chatted with Oceans 808 General Manager Mike Griffith. Griffith said it was strange to not be at the club on a Friday night but added that a John Michael White party was a good reason to take a few hours off.
5. Dianne Stevens-Poire, left, caught up with Cathy Foy and photographer Michi Moore. Foy answered requests to "sing a song" with a beautiful rendition of "O Holy Night" and then led the crowd in singing "Mele Kalikimaka." Moore usually wears black slacks when she's working and joked, "This may be the first time people have seen me in a dress."
