"It’s a bit of coincidence that the two direct hits that we’ve had in recent time have been both on Kauai, but there’s nothing that says Kauai is more susceptible to these hazards than the Big Island or Maui County or Oahu. Every year there’s an equal chance that we’ll get hit,” said Raymond Tanabe, director of the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.
