Candidate Larry Price is not THAT Larry Price

This appears to be the year of the political namesake.

There's school board hopeful Pamela Young, whose candidacy may have benefited from voters confusing her with the TV anchor of the same name.

And there's Larry Price, who seems intent on capitalizing politically from his radio DJ double, the "Price on the right" half of the KSSK Perry and Price morning team.

Candidate Price, seeking to topple Republican Sen. Sam Slom in Hawaii Kai, has adopted a campaign slogan: "Larry Price ... a voice we can trust!" It tops his website (www.larryprice.info).

Slom, meanwhile, is not taking this lying down. His site (samslom.com) counters with a video replaying a cut from the radio show, in which Michael W. Perry complains about the confusion. And each place where the Democrat's name appears on Slom's site, it's like this: "Larry Price, who is not the KSSK radio personality."

Is everyone clear on this?

He's slipping.

Pierre Omidyar, the eBay founder, businessman and philanthropist, has fallen seven ticks down the U.S. wealth scale to 47th place on the Forbes 400 list.

But the bright spot in this sad report: He's still worth a whopping $5.5 billion.

Hmmm. Isn't that the estimated cost of Honolulu's planned rail system? Why, yes, it is!

Of course, city taxpayers, there's no cause for doing the happy dance. Omidyar has other plans for those billions. It's fun to dream, though.
