Shop, shop, shop till you drop
On your mark … get set … SHOP!
24/7 shopping is not that new, if you count the open-all-night supermarkets and gas station mini marts. But for retail shopping? Pretty rare.
So for last-minute holiday shoppers, here's your chance to go crazy. Nationwide, including its eight in Hawaii, Macy's stores that opened at 7 a.m. today will stay open continuously until midnight Sunday.
Also doing marathon hours here will be Toys R Us Pearlridge, starting 6 a.m. today through 10 p.m. Christmas Eve.
For procrastinators, this is all welcome news. For store employees, though, maybe not so much.
Fake products also very real
We don't want to argue about the merits of intellectual property laws, at least not right now, but it seems a shame that the counterfeit merchandise seized by federal officials in Hawaii this week will end up being destroyed.
The handbags and other items may, indeed, have been falsely presented as being made by Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Chanel and other high-end manufacturers, but they still are functional, usable products. Our practical minds can't help but think that there are so many poor people worldwide who could really use the help of a tote bag or two, somewhere that wouldn't affect the bottom lines of the companies that were misrepresented.
After all, once the fake logos are removed, a bag is a bag is a bag, right?
Alas, if only it were so simple.
