Cartoons are just that, CARTOONS. Sometimes people write in to the paper complaining about the subject matter and "claim" it was either offensive, was racists, was off the mark, etc, etc. For goodness sakes, it is just a cartoon. Cartoons are MEANT to be provocative in nature and emotionally stirring. It does NOT have to be politically correct or even remotely correct. It is meant to provoke one's senses, ideas and beliefs. It is also meant to appeal to our comical side. It sometimes make one angry, sad,cry and laugh for the shear brilliance of the cartoon. It is ONLY my opinion, but NO ONE should ever take a cartoon seriously, much less complain to the editor about it. It shows one's intolerance and lack of perception of the job of a cartoonist. Pity.
