Mars’ debut album is certified platinum

NEW YORK » Elektra recording artist Bruno Mars’ debut album, “Doo-Wops & Hooligans,” is now certified by the Recording Industry Association of America Platinum in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, Australia and New Zealand, and 2x Platinum-certified in Ireland.

The album is also RIAA-certified Gold across multiple international territories including Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland and France. Mars has also sold an impressive 14.7 million singles worldwide.

Mars is set to make his debut appearance on "American Idol," on Fox on Thursday.

He was also honored with inclusion on “The 2011 TIME 100,” the magazine’s annual list naming the people who most affect our world. Mars joins the world’s most influential artists, activists, heads of state and captains of industry on the prestigious list.

He will perform live with Sting at the TIME 100 official celebration event, slated for Tuesday in New York City.
