Willows to host beer tastings
Beer connoisseurs will want to be at the Willows on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. for a tasting featuring craft, select and Belgian beers from around the world.
Along with the samplings will be a tasting menu that includes sliders, poke, beer nuts and noodle dishes.
Pre-sale tickets, available at Tamura's Fine Wine & Liquors and Willow's, are $35, or pay $40 at the door. Call 952-9200.
Down to Earth opens in Kapolei
The all-vegetarian food store Down to Earth is expanding its chain on Saturday with a 10,000- square-foot flagship store in Kapolei Commons (near Target and Price Busters).
Doors will open at 7:30 a.m., and an all-day celebration will feature cooking classes, nutritional seminars and food sampling. Plus, Dr. Terry Shintani will give a talk at 10 a.m.
There will also be a sale of up to 50 percent off Down to Earth's 100 best-selling items, and 30 percent off hot entrees and the salad bar.
The Kapolei store includes a community room for classes and seminars.
Store hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. everyday. Call 675-2300.
Moana offers mango mania
Summertime means mango season, which means another "Mangoes at the Moana" event at Moana Surfrider. This one takes place July 9. Call 922-3111.

» Farmers market, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
» Mango Boot Camp, 11 a.m. to noon: Wellness seminar featuring body treatments and movement
» Lunch and afternoon tea, noon to 3 p.m.: A mango-filled menu
» Mango Throw Down, noon to 4 p.m.: Local celebrity chefs compete. Tastings are $3; proceeds benefit the Culinary Institute of the Pacific.
» Seminars, 1 to 3 p.m.: Growing mangoes
