Buying a piece of the President’s past

A Punahou School yearbook signed by a young Barack Obama sold at auction last week for $7,866, according to Nate D. Sanders Auctions in Los Angeles. The 1971-72 Na Opio o Punahou yearbook, obtained from an unidentified Hawaii resident, features a fifth-grade photo of the president holding an "on strike" sign to get out of homework. He signed the yearbook "Barry Obama." The auction house, which claimed it was "perhaps the earliest known Obama autograph," would not reveal the buyer’s identity.
