A regal hue highlights this season's contrasting tough and delicate trends

Get ready for fall's purple reign. A full range of purple and red hues are the top colors for the fall season, adding elegance, mystery and richness to wardrobes as well as holiday-ready drama that pairs well with the dominant tans, blacks and browns of animal prints.
As if the bold stripes and graphic spots of animal prints were not enough reason to embrace your wild side, the rocker chic and "borrowed from the boys" trends call for summoning your inner rebel and donning a leather motorcycle jacket or vest with combat boots.
Of course, for every tomboy in button-down shirt and lace-up Oxfords there's an ultra-femme, and designers address this woman with a luxurious touch of lace for both day and night. A little silk or lace also goes a long way in adding interest or softening the look of leather or a haberdashery ensemble.
All of the new trends will be on view this weekend during The Fall Fashion Event at Ala Moana Center, part of Hawai‘i Fashion Month.
Fashion shows will take place daily, with outfits from Ala Moana Center merchants.
Honolulu Community College fashion technology all-stars Eddy Pong Cheung, Channelle Hillman, Reise Kochi, Jacky Lau, Randy Leano, Chai Siang Lim, Randy Oribello, Kitri Rowland, Natalie Sagaysay, Ari South and Rose Wolf will also present one-of-a-kind looks inspired by Pepsi at 5 p.m. Saturday, alongside mentor, designer and fashion show producer Amos Kotomori.
