A rainy morning across the state should dry out by this afternoon for most islands. However another round of wet weather is forecast to arrive Thursday night and Friday and there’s a chance of showers for the outdoor events for the leaders of 20 nations here for the Asia-Pacific Economic Forum summit this weekend.
Forecasters say cold air from a weather system in the upper atmosphere is creating unstable conditions and creating wetter-than-usual tradewind showers. The rain is mostly in the windward and mauka sections, but tradewinds are blowing some showers over to leeward areas.
There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms today. But forecasters expect the state, except for Hawaii island, to dry out by this afternoon. Another bout of wet weather is expected to move in Thursday night through Friday. But the weather should gradually improve over the weekend, forecasters say.
The forecast calls for partly sunny skies with scattered showers Saturday when First Lady Michelle Obama visits Ma’o Organic Farms with other spouses.

The forecast for Kualoa Ranch Sunday, where Michelle Obama is hosting a lunch for spouses of the leaders, calls for mostly cloudy skies with morning showers and the chance of scattered afternoon showers.
On Sunday, the National Weather Service is predicting mostly sunny to party cloudy skies with the chance of isolated showers for the area around Ko Olina, where the world leaders are meeting and scheduled to take their traditional group photo.
