A 51-year-old Pokai Bay man was in a holding cell Tuesday morning after calling police about his son Monday and then allegedly getting into a fight with an officer who tried to arrest the 26-year-old man.

Police said they received a call from the older man about a restraining order violation but when they showed up at about 3:30 p.m. and attempted to arrest the man’s son, the father intervened. He allegedly punched an officer and ripped the badge off an officer’s shirt.

The 26-year-old man was arrested for violating a restraining order and released on bail. The 51-year-old man remained in custody this morning and was being held without bail for assaulting a police officer.
