Between 250-300 people from Vietnam to the mainland U.S. marched from Old Stadium Park to Ala Moana Boulevard to protest the business policies of countries taking part in this week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation gathering.
The protest stopped in front of the Wailana Coffee Shop where they were met by several dozen law enforcement officers, most of them Honolulu Police Department officers on bicycles or walking alongside the protesters wearing aloha shirts and straw hats.
It was the closest the group could get to the Hale Koa Hotel where President Barack Obama was hosting 18 other leaders from the Asia-Pacific region.
After chanting slogans like "APEC sucks, labor and resources!" for about half an hour, the group then marched along Kalakaua Avenue to Kalakaua Triangle for more speeches.
