Off-duty firefighter charged in alleged threats using car

A 34-year-old Hono­lulu firefighter was charged Friday with allegedly attempting to run down three people near his home with a vehicle.

Carlin Jones of Wai­kiki was charged with three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening and will make his initial appearance in District Court on Thursday.

He was released on $25,000 bail Friday afternoon.

Dave Koga, spokes­man for Prosecutor Keith Kane­shiro, said three counts of second-degree terroristic threatening and a second-degree charge of impersonating a police officer are pending further investigation.

Jones was arrested at Leahi Avenue and Pua­lei Circle near his home at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The three victims are ages 18, 33 and 34.

Police said Jones, who was off duty at the time, allegedly intentionally drove his vehicle toward three men and then threatened them at 5:30 p.m.
