After Tristan “TJ” Fernandez, 14, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor, one of his wishes as an avid anime fan was to visit Japan, but he was unable to travel after a seizure. In response, his family organized a fundraiser, with support from Hospice Hawaii and local anime convention Kawaii Kon, to bring anime characters to him at the Pearl City High School cafeteria on Saturday. Several cosplayers gathered around TJ for a photo at the event.
