Island Images: CH-53D Sea Stallion Retirement
The CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter will be retired from the Marine Corps' inventory after more than 40 years of service as one of the Corps' heavy lift helicopter platforms in a Sea Stallion Sundown Ceremony at the Pacific Aviation Museum—Pearl Harbor. The ceremony began with the dedication of a Sea Stallion, after the aircraft conducted its last flight from Marine Corps Air Station, Kaneohe Bay to its final resting place at the PAM. The Marine Forces Pacific Band and Ford Island Control Tower are reflected in the band's tuba as the band played the ceremonial music.
