Kaena Point expedition, Sept. 22, 2012
Ken Suzuki leads a Hawaii Nature Center hike to Kaena Point starting from the end of Farrington Hwy. on the Waianae side of Kaena Point. The trail follows an old railroad bed and former dirt road that runs along the westernmost point on Oahu. The trail leads to Kaena Point Natural Area Reserve. Hawaiian monk seals frequent that area. Participants included Pauline Kawamata, Steve Poor, Denel McDowell, Kristen Gagesch, Monica Szczupider and Jenna Gatzke. Above, the group looks toward the Waianae Mountains. The rubble in the foreground use to be a rock fence wall for cattle.
