By Star-Advertiser staff

Kauai Fire Department rescue personnel assisted two injured people in separate incidents on Kauai trails on Saturday.

Rescuers were first called to the Na Pali Coast, where a 62-year-old Kapaa man fell and injured his head while hiking along the Kalalau Trail about a quarter-mile from Hanakapiai Beach.

The injured man was first airlifted to the Kee landing zone, then to Princeville Airport, where he was transferred to the care of paramedics and transported to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. His condition is unknown.

A few hours later, HFD personnel came to the aid of a 15-year-old Kapaa boy who had fallen about 30 feet from ridge to the bottom of Hoopii Falls in Kapahi while mountain biking with a friend.

The boy was airlifted to Kapahi Park then transported by medics to Wilcox Memorial Hospital. His condition is also unknown.
