Island Images: May 2013
A partial solar eclipse was visible through a solar filter Thursday afternoon at the Bishop Museum. The eclipse was the first of 2013, and Hawaii was the only state in the U.S. where one could view the celestial event. The eclipse started at 2:23 p.m., reached its maximum extent at 3:48 p.m. and ended just after 5 p.m. The next partial solar eclipse to be visible in Honolulu will be on March 8, 2016.
