From Mom's house to the motherland

Chef Alan Wong begins a journey in Wahiawa to trace his culinary roots for the new program “Family Ingredients,” airing 9 p.m. May 23 on PBS Hawaii. Wong grew up in Wahiawa, where his mother, Terry Yamamoto, purchased eggs from Peterson Farm and tofu from Honda Tofu, to make some of her son’s favorite dishes, tamago kake gohan (raw egg over hot rice) and miso soup with tofu. Chef Ed Kenney hosts the show.
