The Rev. Yubun Narashiba of the Jodo Mission of Hawaii on Tuesday took down “o-toba,” or memorial sticks, which have names of the deceased on them. The obon season, when Buddhist ceremonies are held to console spirits or show appreciation for ancestors, continues for about another month.
