Sailors, officers and Pearl Harbor survivors saluted the flag as the colors were presented at a ceremony marking the Navy’s 237th birthday Friday at the Arizona Memorial Visitor Center. The bell from the USS Arizona was rung nine times at 9 a.m. — eight times to signify the end of the watch and a ninth time to mark the beginning of the watch, or the start of a new year for the Navy. The keynote address was given by Adm. Cecil D. Haney, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
