Ramadan sacrifices bring joy
Anwar Quadri, front, led his family in prayer in their home, holding their hands in a "dua" gesture of supplication, as they prepared for the start of Ramadan, a month of fasting and self-restraint, at sunset Sunday. The prayer consists of a sequence of postures involving standing, kneeling and bending forward to touch one's forehead to the ground, which takes several minutes five times a day.
