U.S. new-home sales rise to highest in 2 1/2 years

This Kaimuki home, designed by Cathi Schar, has the roof trusses and other construction features exposed, a design more typically seen in office space. The wooden floor and walls are made of floorboards recovered from the Punahou School gym.
